There are so many variables (and emotions) that go along with shopping for “the” dress. What style looks good on you? What will he want to see me in? What fabric will go nicely with my venue? AND…how much do I want to spend?
Setting a budget for yourself is very important. You can find a gown at ANY price, but what are YOU going to be comfortable in spending? Just remember, no matter what your budget is, there is a beautiful dress out there for you.
But be careful on how far you take your budget. Online shopping is part of everyday life now. However, there are many websites out there that are featuring amazing wedding gowns by top designers for minimal cost. Yes, it’s great for your budget! But is it worth the risk?
The risk is that these companies are not actually selling these designer dresses. Designer dresses are not sold online. And we have seen time and time again, that the dream dress you thought you ordered, well, it’s not anything what you expected.
So many of these websites have popped up over the last few years, that many designers are taking a stand. One in particular is Maggie Sottero, one of our favorite designers at The Bridal Cottage!
They have been one of the front runners in trying to stop these websites from selling counterfeit bridal gowns, prom and social occasion dresses. On November 20th of last year, in response to a lawsuit filed by the American Bridal and Prom Industry Association, a US District Court “entered a Temporary Restraining Order enjoining and restraining the websites.” Hopefully, this will help.
So when you are shopping for your wedding dress, with your budget, remember that your dream dress is out there at a bridal shop, and not online.
