Statistics show that a bride will find her dress within the first five dresses that she tries on! Hard to believe, right?! In a local bridal store, like The Bridal Cottage, conversation-based appointments prove that to be true. We always say that it’s not the quantity of bridal gowns that a bride tries on, but the quality.
Trying on bridal gowns can be an exhausting experience, emotionally and physically, for brides. At The Bridal Cottage, we try to minimize that by listening to key words that brides say which indicate certain styles that they like, enabling us to pull gowns that best fit the bride’s individual personality and preferences!
Sometimes it’s difficult for a bride to believe that she’s found her dress so easily. Brides can feel the need to try on at other bridal stores (or ALL bridal stores) just to “make sure that there isn’t anything else out there”.
It makes sense – We live in a world of options. But, at the same time, that same bride didn’t continue dating other people once she found her fiance’! It’s okay to fall in love. And, once you start trying on bridal gowns, you will fall in love. You will find your dress.
So how do you know that the dress is THE dress? The Bridal Cottage consultants have learned that all brides that have found their gown have a few things in common:
· You keep thinking about it.
When you’ve found your bridal gown, you will begin to compare every other bridal gown to your dress. You think, “I like this aspect of this one, but it still doesn’t compete with the OTHER one.” There are a lot of pretty dresses in the world, but there’s only one dress that grab your attention and stay on your mind. If you keep thinking about one bridal gown and are comparing to all others, then it’s safe to say that you’ve found your dress! And it’s okay to say, “Yes!”
· You don’t want to take it off.
You look beautiful, you look like a bride and, most importantly, you look like YOU! Your bridal gown is exactly what you wanted (whether you knew it or not) and you don’t want to take it off! You want to stare at yourself, take pictures and daydream about your big day. You may even think of excuses to stay in the dress. If you find yourself lingering in a bridal gown, not wanting to move on to the next dress, you’ve found your dress!
· You get “the feeling”.
“The feeling” isn’t the same for every bride: Some brides cry, some brides just know and some brides feel like their vision has been fulfilled. We, at The Bridal Cottage, always say that “no two brides are the same”. But every bride has some sort of connection to her dress. Whether you’re a bride that has always dreamt about her dress or not, you will fall in love with your dress. That is when you know that it is “the one”.
You know yourself. Trust your instincts. You fell in love with your fiance’ and you can fall in love with your dress! Allow yourself to be open to finding your dress. Remember, it’s not about the quantity of bridal gowns that you try on, but the quality. When you start trying on bridal gowns, you WILL find your dress!
